Message from the new President of  BSMDH

It is an honour and a privilege to be elected as the President of this prestigious society of doctors, nurses, psychologists and other clinicians who are qualified healthcare professionals.

The number of professionals that the BSMDH has trained over the years is countless and they are using this wonderful bag of tools, clinical hypnosis for the good of many patients whose lives have been transformed as a result of very effective and non-invasive methods of hypnotherapy.

Message from the Immediate Past President of the European Society of Hypnosis

Dear member of BSMDH, as Past President of the European Society of Hypnosis (ESH) I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you not only to BSMDH but also to the much wider community of health professionals involved in Hypnotherapy throughout Europe. ESH has members in 25 countries with 45 Constituent Societies in these countries.

It was a great honour for me to be elected President of ESH in 2020 and to represent a network of more than 14,000 health professionals dedicated to the practice of excellence in hypnosis and to spreading the word about hypnosis throughout Europe and beyond. The European Society of Hypnosis (ESH) is a confederation of National Societies specialising in the use of hypnosis in the fields of medicine, dentistry, psychology, and psychotherapy.

Our mission is to promote the highest professional standard in the practice of hypnosis for clinical and experimental purposes. The commitment is to evaluate and elaborate on the newest developments in professional hypnosis and to disseminate such information among members.

We currently are involved in work with the World Health Organisation who is investigating research on the efficacy of hypnosis for the relief of pain. We have an active research committee and an educational committee. I am co-chair of the new Crisis Intervention Committee which has been set up with the International Society of Hypnosis to help provide training to therapists working with displaced people where there has been war or disaster.

Being a member of one of our Constituent Societies in joining BSMDH, allows you to attend our ESH Congresses which are held every 3 years. The next Congress will be hosted by BSMDH in Glasgow in 2026.

As a member of BSMDH, you have access to our ESH Newsletter and can apply for the ESH Certificate in Hypnosis as long as you meet the criteria for continuing education in hypnosis.

Being a member of BSMDH will open the door to a lifetime of learning and personal development within the hypnosis field. It is a journey that I began many years ago and one that I would highly recommend, not only for your professional work but also for yourself.

I would urge you to take a look at the ESH website and also to consider attending our ESH Congresses.
